Paid during the clinicals?

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello....I was wondering if any of the sites that the SRNA works at offer any pay/stipend while they are in training? It's one of those rumors going around, and you know how that goes! Thanks!

Three clinical sites from TWU offers clinical stipend not much but good enough. Colton, VA in Dallas and Dener Health.

Doesn't VA only accept their own employees? I know when I worked at Parkland that was the deal.....$20k cash to you for 3 year committment after graduation. U had to be FT employee in ICU for 2 years before starting your program to even qualify to apply.

Two of my classmates who went to VA for clinicals were not employee of VA. They got stipend from the hospital. If you are talking about schorlarship, I don't think VA offered one. Baylor used to offer 2 anesthesiology scholarship per year but stopped a few years back.

That's cool but VA is not a primary site for TCU. I'm guessing they only pay the stipend to their primary site students. My clinical site is John Peter Smith. They had a scholarship program in the past for their own employees but did away with it too. I guess many of the hospitals are dong that.

To my understanding. Rush's program in Chicago pays some kind of $700 a month stipend. Would be nice to make some dough during the clinical residency. FREE labor...

Seems only fair that we should get paid. I mean, medical residents do and they're training also. Maybe the AANA should fight for that. With the shortage of CRNA's one would think there would be some bargaining power.....:plsebeg:

Not to change the subject on your thread, but neurogeek don't you go to TCU? I see that you are primarily in FW for your primary, but I was wondering if you knew anything about the Sherman site for clinicals. At least where the secondary sites are located if Sherman is the primary. Here is my dilemma, I live in Frisco with the hubby and dog so I am not going to relocate if I am accepted. Sherman is the same distance as FW without the traffic. Therefore, if the secondary sites are around Sherman or the metroplex I would be in good shape. Any advice would be great, I have to fax in my form by 11/24, thanks!!!! :)

Pls tell me which hospital is that? The money would be a great help. What is the starting pay for CRNAs

RUSH in Chicago will give around 700 a month.

Just read this, so by now you've already submitted your form. Wasn't there a clinical site in Sherman that was primary?
