Does anyone know anything about this school? I looked on the website but I want to know a few more details like how long it has been around, if it offers stipends, how much do you travel betweein Oregon and Washington for clinicals, how's the staff/instructors/support, etc and just how well do you like it if you are or have been in this program. Thanks for any help offered. I'm trying to narrow down the # of schools I am looking to apply to.

Hey guys,

Well, all I know is that they just accepted their first class in Fall of '06. So I imagine that they have accepted another class this last Fall. There were 10 or so in the first class with the goal of getting 15 or so for the second class.

I interviewed there and decided to choose a different school. They seemed very professional but somewhat unorganized during the interview process. The director was very nice and tried to answer all my questions. OHSU has a stellar reputation for graduate nursing.

Reasons I didn't go: The tuition is probably the highest in the country (70K or so). This may have changed since then though, I don't know. The campus is on this humongous hill with little to no parking. The traffic in that part of Portland is insane. The cost of living in Portland anywhere near campus is huge. The school was just starting out and the clinical sites were all over the greater Oregon and Washington area.

If you are from Portland or have somewhere to stay, it may be ok that the tuition is that high. Also, if you like OHSU and want to be associated with a very research oriented university and it's awesome reputation, that's another plus.

I recently interviewed at OHSU and was accepted.

The interview process was extremely organized and well presented. They even had a pre-interview meet-and-greet introduction to the program, faculty, and students.

The first admitted class will be graduating this December, so there are no statistics regarding their board exams.

The first year is all classroom, while the rest of the program is clinicals.

There is quite a lot of traveling to clinical sites. Sites are located all over Oregon, Washington, and Tampa (yes, FLORIDA).

The program still costs $70,000.

The new director seemed very supportive and invested in his students success.

The first class started with 10 students, but 2 dropped out. The second class started with 10 and still has 10. I think they accepted 12 students for this year.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking the program was pretty new.

Yeah, the parking is supposed to be a nightmare.

Portland, although beautiful, is very expensive. And if the tuition is really that high... I'm not quite sure I can justify all that expense.

Too bad because as you said, they are supposed to have a great reputation for their nursing school, esp grad.
