Any info on the Chicagoland CRNA schools?

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I'm in my Sr. year of my bsn degree right now and I have already secured a tech position in a local ICU, so a RN job in the ICU is pretty much a given for me at this point. But I was wondering, since there are three schools offering CRNA degrees in the Chicagoland area has anyone noticed or heard of one that is easier or better to get into than the other? Are they very competative to get into? How many times did you have to apply before getting in? The three are Rush, DePaul and Franklin.

I'm not 100% set on the CRNA, I do have three children, but a very supportive husband and family who have all done all they can just to get me through my BSN degree. So one of the schools offers a part time 39 month program and even though I know nothing about that school it seems the best option for me if I go the CRNA route, just becuase it may be a tad bit less intense of a didactic program being only 1 or 2 courses per semester, until the full time clinical portion at the end. I somedays think the FNP would be easier on my family, either way I WILL be getting an advanced practice degree, I have no desire to be a bedside nurse my entire life. Nothing against it, don't get me wrong I will learn tons in the ICU but it's not what I went into nursing for. Heck some days I dont even know anymore why I went this route!!LOL! I just know I have to be at the top of whatever it is I do decide to do, and a masters degree is my minimum level of personal acceptance.
