Hi,

I have been accepted to the March 2015 cohort (part time) provisionally, when I pass the Bio class. They made it clear that since I have been out of school for 27 years I needed this class and should be part time. From what I have read it will be a good first step back into academic world.Part time at Simmons is more like full time at other schools I applied to.

I have also been accepted at Chamberlain ( and 2 others that are not in the running),which is quite a bit less expensive but Simmons is my preferred school. Chamberlain does a RN-BSN-FNP , take 6 months longer and require many core classes. I do not really need the BSN in my current position.

I have set Monday Nov. 24 as decision day!

Anyone else starting in March 2015? Anyone doing the Bio class in Jan 2015?

Does anyone know if this class has live lecture days?

I work part time and have a flexible schedule but would like to know how flexible I need to be for these lectures.

Pretty excited to be going to school again after all these years !!!

Starsoleilrn,

Congratulations on being accepted!!! I'm hoping to hear in the next two weeks. It has been 24 years since I completed my ADN degree so it seems we are in a similar boat. I was told by my admissions counselor I may very well be required to take the Bio course being that it has been so long since I've taken any science classes. From what I have read, the class is well worth it. So...we may be in the same classes together. How long did it take to be notified of your acceptance once your application was accepted? Simmons just seems to be the best fit for me although the cost is a lot to handle.

Hi there!

It looks like it took a week. The admissions person did say 1-2 weeks. So November 11 they finally received all my recommendations and the faculty received everything. On November 18 , I received the call. And yes I agree with you in that Simmons seems to be the best fit but the cost is astronomical to me. Like you probably, I have been a nurse so long that the pay is not even going to be that much of an increase. But I am ready for a great educational experience and more challenges in my career . And I thought I wanted early retirement ! LOL .

I bet you will hear anytime now , and maybe we will be in classes at the same time. You may be a little ahead if you don't need that bio class.

We do sound very similar. And Iagree, the pay won't be that different at least to begin with. Hope to hear soon......

Great and congrats! Looking forward to getting started. Are you doing it full time or part time? There are some orientation things to do and I got a link to them today. Tried to sign in but the sign in did not work so I will wait a little longer before my curiosity is sated.

There is a Facebook group - for Admitted to Nursing @ Simmons or something like that . Have you seen that ?

I'm going to be PT. Unless I didn't work, I couldn't imagine going FT. Their PT program takes less time than than some FT programs. I hope and pray I'm up for the challenge. :-) I have joined the FB group. I still need to pay my $650 so I'm thinking once I do so they'll send me more info.

Congrats! I have also been accepted into the Simmons college FNP for March 2015 part-time. I also have to take the bio class in January, from what I understand we if it has been over 5 years since your bio class you have to take the bridge class. I am extremely excited to start the FNP program and look forward to having classes together.

can i ask you all who you used for recommendations, like examples??

You should try to have a boss (MSN or higher degree), a FNP or other nurse practitioner, and an MD. At my job I was able to get the medical director so I actually submitted 4 letters.

Good luck to you all! I started in cohort 3 March 2014 for BSN-MSN/FNP. Super tough program but worth every penny!
