Need advice....Accepted to Spring Arbor University

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I was recently accepted to Spring Arbor University into the MSN NP program. I was very excited and ready to accept until I was told by a former nursing professor that they do not have a very strong program and that I should wait on accepting. Anyone in their program currently, or a graduate from their NP program? I appreciate any and all feedback!

I just got accepted to start in June also. I had read a post on here from students in the program a few months ago and everything was positive except one person had a negative review of that first class on ethics. Did you professor elaborate on why the program was not very strong, I know the FNP program is newer but the Adult NP program has been around for a while and they are a top school by ratings...

I know! I haven't been able to find anything negative either! I wonder if that's because the program is too easy??

I will ask her to elaborate.

Please do. I would like to know! Several students have posted how much they like the program. I was concerned prior to applying but from what ive seen current students post & talking with the school I am not concerned. Are you supposed to start in June?

I'm scheduled to start in August. I've applied to a few other schools though, and am waiting to hear back to make a final decision.

I'll let you know what I hear. Hopefully a few other people will comment as well.

So, wanted to let you know what I found out. Apparently the program is not well respected in Michigan. I am told by a very reputable source that I would have a difficult time finding anyone to precept me knowing that I am an SAU student. I would also have difficulty finding a job with SAU on my resume. They are known to accept almost anyone and graduate students that are ill prepared. Kind of like a diploma mill.

Have you applied elsewhere??? I would strongly consider it.

Oh wow. Thanks for that information. I haven't heard anything like that about them and I have been researching them for a few months. Are you local to the program? Ive applied to other programs, waiting to hear back, now I really need to consider what I should do. Thanks for the information.

You're welcome! I'm really disappointed myself. Also really paranoid now!

I am about 2 hours away from SAU. One other thing she shared, by the way, is that one of the local hospitals won't even give tuition reimbursement for that school.

Where else did you apply, if you don't mind me asking?

Texas a&m and Angelo State. I'm currently living in Texas.

Okay. Well good luck!

Hey. Just FYI I talked to the Dean of Spring Arbor today and I feel a lot better about the program now. I would reach out to them and speak with your admissions person with your questions. That information you have been told might not be 100% correct. Just letting you know!

Thanks for letting me know. Can you elaborate on what may not be accurate?
