Just got accepted into the ACNP program at Grand Canyon University for May 1. Looking to see if anyone else was accepted into this program as well? Also any students currently in the program that could offer some advice or helpful tips?

@ESREVENSRN24, I got accepted too and starting may 1. have your heard any info about this program. Am really curious

I actually work with someone that graduated from gcu acute care program about a year ago. She was the first class to go through it and she said there were some bumps along the way being that it was a new program but over all she said it was a good program. She also went to class one day a week unlike us we will be totally online. She said the first few classes are basic and busy work.

So are you starting May first?

Yup I start may 1. Where did you get your bachelor's?

@GCU and it was an awesome experience. Where did you get your BSN. but am nervouse about the ACNP set up. No prerecorded lectures as i heard only text books. I hope there will be enough resource when needed. what made you choose GCU. Didi you apply in other schools I had hard time making this choice , either to go for FNP, PSYCH or ACNP.

I also got mine at GCU. I also had a hard time between FNP or ACNP. Still debating which one I wanna do. What made you pick ACNP.

Initially i wanted FNP but right now i just think that a lot of people are going into the program. I think the job will be some how competitive. I don't think i can fit into working 5 days a week Monday to Fridays. i prefare shift and off days. am not planning on moving because i have a family and 9 times out of 10 FNP jobs will make you to move to remote areas or other cities especially if you are a new graduste. So even if i dont move i can still get a job in the hospitals around. I can be part of a hospitalist group or even work in the ICU or just anywhere in the hospital unlike FNPs. A lot of FNPS are going for their speciality so that they have have more access to hospital jobs. I dont want to do FNP then turn around to specialize again. Just want to get my specialty now ,my DNP and i will be done. I just think that ACNP is an advantage. Psych is another area am looking into. So let just see what happens . Have you purchase your books? I hopt to see you in class come may first.
