FNP cert preparation

Hi.

I have been eyeing this site forever before passing the AANP FNP exam. This site has helped me prepare so I will like to be a blessing to others. I graduated from NP school May 2017. Prior to graduation, I took the Hollier live 2.5 days review. It was a great review course. I loved the way she pulled everything together. She also provided us with a syllabus. The syllabus included fill in the blanks, etc. which allowed me to stay focused on her presentation. (I swear I have ADHD).

After the review, I literally didn't bother picking the syllabus up for another month as I was so focused on graduation. After graduation, packed up my suitcase and headed to Miami and D.C. I promised myself that after I get off my "graduation high" that I would schedule my exam and study hard core for about 6 weeks. I scheduled my exam prior to studying so that I could have an end-goal in mind and some motivation to get me to the finish line.

For the first week, I started going through the syllabus. I tried to focus on one system per day. For the heavier systems, I allowed myself a couple of days to review such as respiratory and cardiac. I also purchased Hollier's question book so after each system, I would do 20-30 questions pertaining to that system AFTER I was done reviewing that system. I initially would study for about four to five hours for the first two to three weeks. For the last few weeks remaining, I would put in 8-12 hours of studying, depending on how I felt that day, mentally. I also completed all practice exams in Hollier's question book.

About three weeks prior to the exam, I purchased Leik book on Amazon and would compare her book to Hollier. I also did about 600 questions in the Leik book. Hollier and Leik together helped A LOT. My friend who passed her cert exam last year recommended this as a study regimen. While preparing for the test, I worked out almost every day and ate healthy for the most part. I read all systems in Leik's book.

Two weeks before the exam, I did a predictor test, which is highly recommended by Hollier, and scored a 67. I wasn't discouraged because I was only half-way done studying. A week before the exam, I scored a 76 on another predictor. A few days before the exam, I took another predictor and scored a 73 so at that point I felt ready. Hollier states that if you score above a 70 on the predictor, you are highly likely to succeed.

The week leading up to the test, I reviewed ALL content in Hollier book again and the exam tips in Leik book. The exam tips in Leik were extremely helpful.

The day before the test, I layed around, prayed a lot, and counted down the hours. The day of test, I stopped by McDonalds and ate yogurt, oatmeal, and a tab bit of coffee. I arrived to the testing site an hour early just to prepare my mind mentally.

If you prepared well, you will pass. You can email me for more tips on preparing.

I only changed three of my answers in the test. I ONLY reviewed the items that I marked for review. Once I was done reviewing, I submitted my test. I walked out, smiled, and knew that God was going to take care of me.

I received my my papers and saw a big fat PASSED and started crying tears of joy. I texted/called my love ones and shared the news.

My advice, put in the time, study hard for your LAST exam, pass, and move on. I hope someone finds this helpful. Good blessings.
