Have not heard of a mammo nurse, pooter.
There are Rad. Techs who perform the mammograms, and a Radiologist reads/interprets the mammograms.
Radiology or Imaging Dept may have a Radiology Nurse who assists with biopsies.
Is this a large center that is able to employ one nurse in that area?

Best to ask of those posting the position for a job description and desireable applicant qualifications.

Ah, I see from your other posts that you work OB.
Are you talking about a position for a lactation nurse, in OB???

I do work in OB but this job is in imaging. Doing breast exams and taking history, teaching I would think.?Assisting with biopsy. Do you think there would be any classes or ed that might help my chances? Do you thinkk volunteering for cancer society might give me some insight to the field? Thanks for the reply

the certification board for onc. is starting a breast health rn certification. Might be worth checking out the website to see if thereis content outline yet. I am on my cell phone so cant google for the link. If you can find ce courses related to breast health it would not hurt, also loking for xray and ultrasound ce classes not just nursing, there might be more options that way. I would definatly be familiar with the procedures done at the facility, even if Yup are not doing the xray/ultrasound/biopsy you might be responsible for patient education. For instance knowng about wire locs, lymphosintography, biopsy, steriotatic biopsy, what ultrasound looks for (more than just cyst or solid), diffrences between screening and diagnostic mammo. You might also want to read up of the federal requirements since you might be involved in letters and accreditation maintianince.

Hope this helps,
Jeremy
