Surgical Tech or LVN to waiting for RN school

Hello all.

So I am thinking of a career change. I have been interested in becoming a Surgical Tech for a long time. (Since High School) I hope to start a surg tech program in the fall. However, I haven't all taken the prerequisites that most nursing or health care programs require. Like anatomy, microbiology, pshyiology, chemistry, etc. The surgical tech program that I am interested in does not require these as prerequisites. And they are an accredited program.

However, I want to be able to advance in my career. I live in California. As you all may know, you aren't able to be a First Assistant to the surgeon. You must be a RNFA. I want to continue my education as much as possible and advance in this career as much as possible.

My question is: Should I take the Surgical Tech course or start with a LVN program. They are about the same length in time. If I go the LVN route, I can work and then take a RN course?

If I just do the Surgical Tech, I will need to take those prerequisites eventually. Would it make sense to take those before starting anything? I really just want to "get in" and get experience and work.

Has anyone else gone this route before, from a surgical tech to RN?
