Statistics for entry into university

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just got the statistics for entry into my 2nd school of choice, TWU. This is really rough!

"Right now the statistics we see are 3.8-4.0 GPA, high 80's on the TEAS V exam, and 3 out of the 3 preferences."

This is NOT at all what I was expecting for this school - so my chance now of getting in is pretty much zilch. My GPA may be a 3.6 once done with pre-reqs and preferences seem to be a big deal in my area - basically taking classes at the specific college and getting an A in the science the first try. I will count myself extremely lucky if I do so well on the TEAVs.

I am feeling discouraged! I hope I can get into my university of choice which is competitive as well! UGH!

Yeah, TWU is very competitive. Don't be discouraged, just apply to other schools as well and try your best. PV, TWU, UT, HBU, St. Thomas, and U of H-V, have great nursing programs.

Thanks lalacb123.

I am looking into other universities and even associate degree nursing programs as a back up plan - I am limited in how far I can travel with family obligations. I need either online or DFW.

When I had spoken to the adviser at TWU previously, she did not inform me how competitive the program is - I just emailed her yesterday and asked for STATS...I was shocked. UTA's AP BSN program may be a good back up plan, because I can take all my classes there and get 2 preferences and if I can get all A's, then I will at least have a 3.7 GPA once done with all pre-reqs.

Thanks for the info!

I'm in for Fall with a 3.596 4/4 and an 82.7 on TEAS V. I got accepted. Don't lose hope because of the statistics. It's an average of everyone's GPA. It's not like you HAVE to have a 3.8 or higher.
