Schools to apply for

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Just received a C in chemistry, kind of freaking out because that brings my GPA below a 3.0. I still have anatomy, human physiology, and micro biology to take so I suppose I could bring my GPA back up but I'm still worried.

Are there many schools that accept a lowish GPA? I'm in California but willing to relocate for a school that will accept me. Trying to get my BSN, I have a BS in business from SF state in 08 and have a few years clinical experience as an ER tech.

How many credits do you have toward your BSN? Have you looked into transferring to a community college and getting your ADN, then going the RN to BSN route?

I thought about that but would prefer to go directly into a BSN program. I'm just worried that my grades are too poor to get in anywhere.

If your GPA is below a 3.0, there isn't a great chance that you will accepted into another BSN program, why not just stay at the school you are currently attending?

The JC I'm currently going to does not have a nursing program. I just need to be sure to get As in the rest of my science classes to be able to transfer.

Thanks, I guess I was just looking for reassurance that I still have a chance lol.

Like others have recommended, you really should consider ADN programs at this point. Anatomy and Physiology I & II, and Microbiology often times are harder than Chemistry, so if you had a difficult time in Chemistry, you seriously need to work super hard to get all As in these classes. Although there are schools that look at applications from students with minimum 2.7 or 2.8 GPA, the ones that get accepted surely are the top applicants. Almost everyone wants to get a BSN straight away to save the troubles, but sometimes things are just not how we wish them to be. There is nothing bad about getting an ADN first then bridge to BSN. You can actually start working as a RN sooner with an ADN and earn your BSN tuition while taking BSN classes. At least you should apply to BSN and ADN schools at the same time, so you have back ups if you don't get accepted to BSN schools.

Thanks a lot for all the info. I agree with you and am going to apply to a bunch of schools including ADN, BSN, and accelerated BSN programs.
