Recommendation Letter From Both a Volunteer Organization AND the Client I Helped?

The rec letter prompt is to write about my intellectual potential, character, and motivation "on his or her professional letterhead."

I have recently been volunteering for a non-profit and all my assignments were with the same client (a man with a disability whom I escorted to appointments).

I was thinking about asking the client himself as well as the volunteer coordinator of the organization (whom I only interacted with when scheduling appointments) write a "joint recommendation" letter.

Any advice on how to have this formatted?

Should I propose that one letter be written (by the client) and that the volunteer coordinator at the non-profit sign off on it, too, and print it on the non-profit's official letterhead?Any miscellaneous tips are appreciated.

I'd think the most natural set up for the letter of recommendation would be for the volunteer coordinator to write it, as they are essentially your "employer." However, you could ask for the client to speak to the volunteer coordinator (if they agree to write the letter) about your work and your strengths. That way, the volunteer coordinator has more information about your work beyond your resume and can write about how the client you served stated this and that about you. It gets the volunteer coordinator the right information, shows that your client liked you enough to talk to the coordinator about you, and gets the whole thing written and signed by an employee of the actual company you are volunteering for.

The volunteer coordinators will also be more able to provide context to your volunteering and how it contributes to the community and your client's health and well being.
