A&P & Microbio at the same time...omg

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

So, I'm only a month and some change into the Spring semester and it's just now hitting me that I can't balance both of these classes while working full time. I feel like I bit off a little more than I could chew and my grades are starting to suffer just a bit. Part of me wants to drop one class and just redo it in the summer so I can focus on one at a time, but the other part of me wants to push through it...knowing my grades will suffer. *sigh* Anyone else going through this right now?

Sorry I needed to vent!!

=(

Before you drop, talk to an advisor. It could screw up your financial aid for next semester. I learned that the hard way many moons ago....

Good day:

At our school they actually take off points for getting W's in certain classes (including micro, a&p I and II). Do check with your school if they have a point system which penalizes you for W's.

Thank you.

@pmabraham OMG! I withdrew from A&P1 and Micro last semester!!! And my college does do that point system, I just didn't know they penalized......fml I hope I can still get in!

Currently taking A&P and Micro plus Pharm while working 36-48 hrs a week. I can be done. I have a high B in A&P, just took my first test in Micro, and have a B in Pharm. I know that I can improve all those grades though.

Hi J3w3lz88:

Check if they penalize for withdrawal's (they might not). I just know HACC discourages "W"'s.

After looking at HACC's paperwork, let me reword the original statement. They give additional points per subject if there wasn't a withdraw.

From their hand book:

Points given -> Grade in BIOL 121 at HACC A = 8, B = 6, C = 4

Grade in BIOL 122 at HACC A = 16, B = 12, C = 8

Grade in BIOL 221 at HACC A = 24, B = 18, C = 12

*No history of W’s, D’s or F’s in BIOL 121, + 3 points

*No history of W’s, D’s or F’s in BIOL 122, + 4 points

*No history of W’s, D’s or F’s in BIOL 221, + 5 points

where 121 is A&P 1, 122 is A&P 2, and 221 is Microbiology; and the "*" is fine print for "in the last seven years."

So from my point of view it is losing points or haven points taken away; but from another point of view, losing points one could have gained had they didn't withdraw.

Thank you.

Thank you.

It's definitely hard. I work part time and it's pure torture. I just walked in my house around 12:30 am from work, and I have a micro test at 8 am. I was supposed to have both A&P II and the micro exam tomorrow, but thanks to the weather thing that happened last week they're not on the same day anymore.

I absolutely hate micro lab .. hate it with a passion. If I don't get an A in micro, it'll be because of lab. As for A&P II .. that's a whole 'nother story. Luckily I have already applied to nursing school cause I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull a 4.0 this semester. I'm trying though.

Good luck!

I hated Micro lab too!!!
