A&P in 8 wks - how did you do it?

I will start A&P 1 in January, it will last 8 weeks. Then I will start A&P 2 immediately after and complete it in 8 weeks. I have not taken any biology or chemistry classes in preparation, and I am a bit nervous. I believe I am the most nervous about covering 2 chapters a week, 8 weeks does not seem like enough time to take this class, but my college has no other option.

So for those of you who have taken A&P in such a short time can you give me some tips?

Any ideas on how to stay on top of things, and how to cram in so much info in a short amount of time -- really anything would be helpful at this point!!!

Thanks!!!

We had study guides and diagrams that we had an idea of what we were going to be tested on. In an 8 week course it is the same information just condensed down into a shorter time frame. I highly suggest drawing the bones or any structures that you have trouble remembering. If you can draw it and label it from memory, than you know it. Try not to be too nervous, it is hard over 8 weeks but it is very do-able. I got an A in an 8 week session, have two small children and took a 5 week math class at the same time. Just stay focused, and find a study method that works for you for the physiology part. For the anatomy, DRAW DRAW DRAW and more draw!! Good Luck, I bet you will do awesome!

Also, if you have taken medical terminology, this can be a big help to you. Break down the words, just like you would have for med term. Break them down, sylable by sylable and try to get the full meaning of it. Take baby steps if you are having trouble. For muscle, it was hard for me because they are all weird names. I stayed late and on weekends, going over the models time after time... until I could name them without messing up. I said drawing is huge because you are spending extra time to really think about the structures. I would draw what I saw under the microscope and label it "dense irregular connective tissue." I am not an artist by any means. I would draw a bone and label any of the tuberosities etc.. and then label it with the bone name. For the nervous system, I would draw a relex arc with a painful stimulus.. like a little hand being burnt by fire. Again, good luck!!!
