Jitters

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

It's only January and here I am getting anxious and scared about being accepted into the Nursing Program this Fall 2012. I have worked so hard and my school only accepts 140 seats and over 400 apply. Its so competitive. I've heard so many students talk about how devastated they were when they didn't get in. I feel silly because the deadline isnt until May and we wont find out if we are accepted until the middle of June. My school has this really intricate point system where basically everything you do gets you points and the top 140 point getters get into the program. Right now I only have 58 points and by the end of this semester the highest ammount of points I could get is 80. The most points anyone could get is 99. But thats with a 4.0 GPA in the prereqs, community service, prior military, having a CNA license, and taking all the extra classes that aren't required. I am so nervous, am I going to feel this way for another 6 months? Ahhh! Anyone else feeling this way so soon?

Yes, I just turned in my application for Fall 2012 too. We will know if we are accepted 8 weeks after Jan. 30 at my school. I pray literally EVERYDAY to get accepted into this program. We have one of the best programs in GA with a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX for the past 3 years consecutively, and above 96% in prior years! I get nervous anytime I think about it! I tell myself if for some reason I'm not accepted, that it will be ok, and that just means I will work even harder to reach my goal. Man, I hope I get accepted the first time though.... My heart jumps just a lil every time I think about it. Good luck to YOU and ME!

I completely understand how you are feeling. I felt the relief of finishing up my pre-reqs this fall semester, but am a little scared about making the cut to enter my schools nursing program this summer. Luckily they expect students into the program fall, spring and summer, but only 50 students at a time. I handed my application in yesterday and I just have to leave everything else to god. However, i feel like these jittery feelings we have are a good thing because, you know its something your passionate about, and when you have passion you will find a way to make your dreams come true! Good luck!

Cassandra13, I hope you get in! I'm a little jealous that you don't have to wait very long to find out, but I'm sure it's feeling like forever to you. It sounds like an amazing nursing program. Our rate of passing the NCLEX is in the 90's but I'm positive it isn't 100! Though I have to agree with aquarius04, "these jittery feelings we have are a good thing because, you know its something you're passionate about, and when you have passion you will find a way to make your dreams come true". Glad to hear you are passionate about it! There are so many nurses now a days that shouldn't be nurses. I'll say a prayer for you!

Aquarius04, I like how your school lets people in every semester so if you don't make it you dont have to wait a whole year to reapply. However, its sounds just as competitive. We only have 140 seats a year, and your school only has 150. Best of luck to you.

Both of you have the right focus. Both of you mentioned either prayer or God. Just know that no matter what happens, He has an amazing plan for your life, and chances are if He gave you a passion for this, this is your plan. :)
