Current SFU student unsure!

Hello everyone!

I am a current student at SFU, doing a B.A. in Health Sciences. I've recently decided I would like to pursue Nursing. It's always been in the back of my mind, especially with my mom and all of her close friends working in direct care, and currently I am completing a Co-op within a healthcare setting - so it's inspired me even more!

I'm fairly close to graduation, and have been looking at my options. I know many of the programs require you to have the science pre-reqs; while I've had them from high school, they would be considered "expired" now (I graduated in 2012) by the programs I'm currently looking at. My top choices right now are BCIT and UFV.

While I won't have trouble meeting BCIT's pre-reqs, I am concerned about UFV's. If my high-school courses are "expired", will I have to upgrade those courses or can I take the entry level science courses here at SFU? Also, is UFV fairly strict about their within 5 years requirement? I have taken an English course at SFU that is a part of my degree, but that was back in 2013; it seems repetitive and costly to re-take it.

Any information is appreciated, especially from the current nursing students who may be able to explain what the process was like for them, why they were outstanding applicants, what they did to become an outstanding applicant, etc.

Thank you in advance for answering these questions! Many of the programs have different requirements its been a little overwhelming with all the research.
