Advice needed for summer..Bio 1441 or A & P 1?

You are among company of non traditional students (I'm 50). As an FYI, the class code (1441 et al) varies per school, so it is better to use the class name vs. a code. Community Colleges tend to be night and day cheaper than university / 4-year colleges for relatively the same education. If you take AP1 at a community college, be sure to take AP2 at the same school. That's super critical as most nursing programs require both to be taken at the same location.

For where I am there is no actual stand alone Biology requirement (it'd be micro-biology with no alternative as far as I know). But we do need to take Anatomy/Phys. Such as it goes, can't take phys until you take chemistry, can't take micro-biology until one takes Phys so it's a lot to take in. I'm 34 and wanting an actual career that can make a difference. Even though some classes are far away, that planning thing can be tough. One knows the way, but choosing the path that works for you can be difficult. Especially if you're trying to make yourself more appealing to more schools! Each have tiny differences in the pre-reqs, the big few seem the same but some want that Lifespan Development and Nutrition, some don't but want some pre-nursing/nursing courses. Ah fun times ahead.

If you have the time and will power for the summer course, go for it. I know I couldn't pull a summer of Biology or Anatomy.... too condensed of a time frame with working. I'm thinking of braving an online course of Psychology for the short class.

Thanks for the replies. It helps to hear from others that have "been there", especially those a little bit older in age! Thank you "pmabraham" for letting me know to put the class name instead of the code, that helps. In my case the class is Cellular & Molecular Biology that they require prior to A&P 1 at the university. Not so if you go the community college route. Hence the reason for the confusion! :confused:

Based on what you shared, if I were you, I would take AP1 and 2 (probably all the prerequisites) at a local community college to save money and time. I've been really enjoying the biology-based courses, but to take cellular and molecular biology prior to ap1... hmmm... that would be frustrating.

Definitely A&P I. They will go over cells and their construction and all that stuff in A&P I. Then when you take micro you will get more in depth to the different cells and their structure. I would skip biology all together if you can. Plus it will be much cheaper at a community college. Just make sure whatever you take transfers.
