Anyone attending or applying for the Fall semester? What are the pros and cons of the program? To those enrolled....was it difficut getting accepted? Do you mind giving me your background? How soon after the deadline was the decision and how many candidates are accepted. Obviously, I'm anxious and ready to go back to school. I didn't realize how fierce and competitive it is to enroll for an online graduate studies program.

I attend. About to begin my last year. Pro's are that its online and you can still work, but you must be extremely determined and dedicated. If you choose to attend full time you can complete in two years. The biggest con of the program which is similar for most online programs is that you find your own preceptors which has proven to be a huge challenge. I'm in Austin (big city) and still had a lot of trouble finding NP's and have mostly been with MD's up until this coming fall I will finally be with a FNP (and for the rest of my program).

I had been a nurse for >2 years with Med/Surg, PACU, Pre-op, and some OR experience. I applied (very early) in October to find out in March I was going to start the following August (I think?). I had great references and what I thought were pretty good essays. I think all programs are becoming more competitive. I have found though that they like a range of experience. I have some strictly psych RN's in my FNP program and some that have only done operating room or ER.

I think everyone is figuring out FNP's are the future of primary care. Our numbers are expected to double by 2025. I wish you the best of luck!!

Thank you for the information. It is now a wait and see moment for me. I am interested in their RNFA Post Master's Certification if accepted. I have 9 years of OR experience and graduated with Honors in Nursing. Hopefully, it's enough.

I also applied for fall admission. I'm unsure whether I will get in since I have less then 2 years experience, but I didn't see anywhere that they had a requirement of being a floor nurse for a certain period of time. I'm hoping to hear soon since we are suppose to have orientation in august sometime. Good luck!

There are many factors being considered for acceptance. It's a matter of supply and demand. I wish you well and hopefully we can be support buddies. Let me know if you hear anything and I will do the same.

    Hey OR,
I applied to their Post Master's RNFA cert program too. I'm a new ACNP with 12 years OR experience. I spent four years as a CST, and the last eight as a RN. I've been a CNOR for almost six years, ACLS and TNCC certified, so I figured that I would be a shoe-in for acceptance. Not so much. It's been almost three weeks since the application deadline, and they're still trying to make decisions about who will be accepted. This is just the RNFA program, so I'm assuming the FNP program is just as competitive, if not more. Good Luck!

I was told by the graduate admissions that it is up to the department on when we would be notified and that we woukd be notified by email. I wouldnt think it would be that much longer since those accepted still have to go to orientation.
