Summer Reading before CRNA school starts?

Wanted some suggestions for reading this summer prior to the start of CRNA school. Anything in particular to review or get a head start on?

The SRNAs that usually answer this question always seem to advise that one does nothing but spend time with family and take it easy, travel, etc. I have wondered the same thing though. Wouldn't it give you a little easier time of it in NA school if you weren't constantly struggling with things that you could have studied in the summer when you had some time?

I know some people have actually found out the text books that will be required and started going through those. There have been some books suggested on this board that others seem to like as well. Do a search about books on this forum.

I anticipate being accepted to a program for either this Fall or next. I have a pharmacology book that I like but it's basic. I just want to be solid on the easiest concepts first before I launch into the harder stuff.

Seriously, don't pre-study. If must read SOMETHING related to your new career it should be "Watchful Care."

Otherwise, go see a movie or something and RELAX.

what's this "watchful care" so recommended for? it seems many people know the evolution of nurse anesthetists and all the BS that goes/came with it. is this a book that is usually recommended or required or neither?

Actually hardly anyone knows the history of Nurse Anesthetists and all its "BS". We have to read the book the first week of the program. ITs not bad. First part real interesting. Last bit a little dry but easy to skim. Had test questions from it in our professional aspects class.

I would really wait until school but if you just cant wait check out:

Morgan & Mikhail Clinical Anesthesiology

Its an easy read that hits the high points though not at all includes everything. ITs concise and not that expensive. You will most likely have to buy it once you start the program anyways.

i agree .. i will, at some point, probably read watchful care.. i did purchase M&M earlier this yr.. it has a lot of info, sort of scattered until there's direction from a specific program.. doesn't matter.. question for you tho, sort of off topic - - i had an interview with a school that said they will still consider me for fall 2006 provided i pass my orgo class(currently finishing up) with a B or better.. what do u make of this? i want to think that they will accept me should i pass.. is this too presumptuous?? thoughts appreciated - -
