University of Arizona BSN-DNP Fall 2015

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hey everyone! I was recently accepted in the BSN-DNP with FNP specialty at the University of Arizona for the Fall 2015. Is anyone here in the program, completed the program, or know someone who's in the program? What has been the experience? I'm out of state but I would like to get a terminal degree. I'm just not sure how good this program is. It seems as though, for the most part, people online are pretty mute on the subject. This doesn't seem like the cheapest school to attend if you're out of state and if I do go, I want to make sure that it pays off.

DNPs are extremely expensive and time consuming, but they won't earn you a single cent more than a masters prepared APRN. There's lots of talk of them becoming required for advance practice, aside from CRNAs this push has almost no momentum legislatively. Doubt it will happen for a decade or more IF it ever happens.

If you do a DNP program I'd advise you to do a dual certification program, like family NP and psyche NP. This way you're at least increasing your earning potential for all that extra time in school.

Personal opinion: Wanting to be called doctor is all well and good, as is earning a terminal degree in nursing, but consider the financial burden your placing on yourself for a title with no scope of practice or monetary benefits.

Hey Jim, I'm aware that I won't earn more money as an aprn. The desire for a terminal degree isn't based solely on money, title, or even nursing regulations. It's more of a self actualization and personal fulfillment thing.

Have you or anyone you know, attended the university of Arizona?

Sorry I don't know about the university of Arizona specifically, good luck in your endeavor!

Hello I have recently been accepted for the BSN-DNP program for Fall 2015 for the PNP track and I have wonderful things and believe that the DNP is the way to go!

Hey MWelch! Congratulations on getting in! I knew I wanted to be a DNP and put a lot of effort into my application. I'm all the way in the east coast and chose the program after being referred to it by one of their recruiters. It seemed to have very good reviews, just never heard people say anything about it once they were attending the program or after they finished it.

Congratulations as well! I agree I have wanted this for a while and decided to reach for it and not let anyone stop me! I agree as well that I haven't heard anything after acceptance as far as details but have heard its a great program but if I hear anything I will let you know

Hey! Looking to apply to this program in the near future. Would you be willing to share your admission stats or anything you know about acceptance rate? Thank you!!!

Hello, did either of you continue with UofA? I'm looking into their program and would like to hear your experience.
