REVIEW COURSES FOR ACNPs

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi,

I was wondering which review courses are the best suited for the ACNP-S? I have seen brochures for review courses that are so general that ANP, GNP and FNP can all attend. I am not sure if this is the best method, especially for those that have attended ACNP curriculum? Any thoughts? Also, which test did you take?

Thanks

Hi and welcome. Which credentialling agency are you taking your test through? Can you contact them and see what they recommend.

I know that this is another old post but I just felt that I have enough knowledge of the topic to respond. The response may be too late for the OP but maybe not so for anyone who is about to take the ACNP exam.

I reviewed, took, and passed the ACNP exam in April 2004. After finishing my program and asking around, I was told that two review courses are excellent - Fitzgerald Health Education Associates and Charles Barkely Review Center. Both have websites were you can buy review tapes and CD's of actual review sessions. Live review sessions are also available at select cities in the country from both. Again, check the websites for schedules.

I personally used the Fitzgerald tapes (with Sally Miller, ACNP lecturing) and it was excellent. I played it all the time - in the car, before going to sleep, at work... She covered everything and it almost seemed like she had the entire ACNP exam content figured out. A lot of her tips showed up in my actual exam!

In addition, I used a book of exam questions by Barabara Todd. Now the questions in that book are hard!!! The actual exam is not even half as hard as her questions so I would suggest someone practice on her book as well just so you will be over-prepared for the test.
