Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hello!

It's been a while since I've been on here but I wanted to get some input on which route to take for my MSN. I am graduating in May with my ADN and I already have a bachelor's degree in something else. I was going to do the RN-MSN track because I eventually would like to work as a nurse practitioner. The programs I'm looking into vary by saying you either need a yr of experience to no experience at all. I was definitely going to work a while before applying but is one year bedside experience really enough to prepare you to transition adequately as an NP? Has anyone had any difficultly transitioning because they feel like they didn't get enough bedside nursing? Also, while I have no problem working several years before going back to get my NP, I do not have kids now. I'll be close to 29 when I graduate in May so ideally working a year or so and then going back would be great for me to knock it out before I have kids, but like I said I don't want to be ill prepared. Has anyone had a difficult time waiting til after children to do your MSN? I'd like to receive your input on what worked best for you.

Thanks!

I probably should've posted this under the graduate nursing student info now that I think about it.
