Indian IEN Need help in selecting US MSN program

I recently cleared my nclex and i am planning to take ms program.,, can any one suggest me a program which has good scope in future ans also which is suitable for me as a unexperienced international RN..??

What area of master's program are you interested in? Do you have a bachelor's in nursing? You most likely ned a bachelor's in nursing (in addition to passing the NCLEX), unless you do an RN bridge program. You could start by searching "nursing masters programs" on google and seeing what fields are out there. Here are some examples of the types of master's programs available, and you can search "[program type] school" on google to see which schools offer the programs.

Yes i do have a bsn degree and recently cleared my nclex..Actually im interested in crna.. But as an international nurse im not eligible for that..so i prefer any ms program with one year time period if that s not available im ready to do 2 yrs ms program of any kind which have scope..

What do you mean by scope? There's ACNP for acute care or FNP for family nurse practitioner. Some schools (Boston College and Vanderbilt, eg) have 12 month programs. Many more have 2 year programs. Do a google search.

Hi all..i asked this before but i am startng it again to be more specific..as i mentioned i am from india and need help in selecting a ms program and university..i am looking for indians who are already doing ms in usa so that i can get more help..any one reading this thread if has knowledge on this topic please help me

Duplicate threads merged. Many MSN programs require experience working as a nurse, but not all. Some are full time programs while others are part time designed for actively working nurses. Remember you need a full time program that is approved by USCIS (i.e. has a international students program for graduate studies) to be eligible for a student visa. Plus an active RN license is required for the state where the school is located. (If you apply to a school in Indiana a NY license won't be good enough,you will need an IN RN license. Remember international student tuition can be 2-3x higher than in/out state tuition and there usually financial assistance.

Are you looking for a MSN program just to get a visa for the US? Do you wish to ultimately work as a nurse practitioner?

You need to determine what area you wish to focus on for graduate studies first. Even as an APN or MSN level nurse there is no guarantee of a job or visa sponsorship.

You need to first decide on your course of study (MSN CNS, MSN/non advanced clinical practice such as research, education etc. , MSN for APN) and specialization (adult, OB, FNP, geriatrics, pediatrics, psych, etc). Then you can narrow down schools that have your desired program and research admission requirements (previous coursework , language proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, etc), GPA, active clinical experience (if any) and whether they accept international students.

Actually I am very much interested in crna but many universities need us icu experience which i do not have and instead i had icu experience in my country..so What I am thinking is to get visa by taking any program and later when I come to us I will work in icu to meet the crna program requirements finally to become a crna..so for that i am ready to take any ms program now

The MS programs are specialized. You need to make that decision as no can tell you where to go or what specialty to choose.

If you present your case as you have here you may have difficulty as it appears you only want to partake a masters as a means to gain entry to the US/get a visa. This can raise red flags with the school & USCIS. As the intent of a student visa is to study then return to your home country post graduation. .
