One of our Ped heart surgeons, Dr Christopher Knott-Craig, just relocated to run the cardiac program there and I was just wondering if he had gotten settled in yet.

I do not know yet, but I am anxious to hear also. I will need heart surgery again. Do you know if he also operates on the adult congential heart patients?

In Oklahoma he did some adults. Not sure what he'll be doing there.

my experience with congenital heart defects (both personal and professional) suggests that most adults who require further surgery will have their surgeries done by a pediatric cv surgeon. the field of adult congenital heart disease is still relatively new, and the staff who care for adult cv patients have very limited experience with caring for the adult with congenital heart disease. our two extremely skilled surgeons operate on a number of adults each year, and some of those adults find themselves in our picu post-op, where the surgeon feels they will receive more appropriate care. after all, we provide care for about 700 congenital heart disease patients per year and we know what we're doing. (however, give me a post-op cabg and i'll be lost.) as well, our adult congenital heart clinic is staffed by a pediatric cardiologist. he sees my son, who is 23 and has a corrected transposition, every couple of years. so msusan, i think you're probably in luck for your next trip to the or. stay healthy!
