Reps in the OR

Hello all,

What policy does your facility have that covers REPS in the OR? Also looking for ideas for making them more easily identifiable/visible in a busy OR. I recommended RED disposable hair bouffants (as opposed to the green and blue ones worn by staff), but my idea was shot down. Any other suggestions?

Has anyone heard of RepScrubs. It is a new system that is only for vendor surgical attire. It looks like a vending machine, and when a rep comes in and needs to get scrubs they buy disposables from the machine and wear those. It comes with a navy scrub suit, shoe covers, and 2 red bouffant caps. This way the hospital staff can easily identify reps, and no longer have to pay for the reps scrubs, while ensuring they are in clean scrubs. Along with vendor credentialing RepScrubs becomes a complete solution to manage reps. I have seen this in Miami and seems to be a all in one solution for this issue.

Respectfully disagree with this approach. I don't like the idea of choosing to add more disposables. Mother Earth has enough on her hands. The red bouffant works well; it doesn't add to the rubbish bin, they have to have a cap anyway. There is something about the bright red, it REALLY stands out. I feel embarrassed for the rep sometimes, as it's such a beacon.
