Posted a thread regarding CNOR exam and got a couple of replies. I appreciate the reply, but I need current info re: CNOR exam and any study hints. The old threads pertain to people who wrote the exam a number of years ago. Anyone write it recently? Thanks ....... David

Hello Shirley, My place of work signed me up early this year...I had the choice of testing July- Sept window or November window...The material is about 20 weeks worth..It is alot...I am currently taking advantage of the 2 week on-line course which starts the 2nd week in July...YOu can only test once in each window..I am hoping to get certified the first time because there is a fee for taking the test again...Thanks for the question though..Keep in touch...Carla:)

I have a question...I've been thinking of taking the CNOR exam next year when I'm done with school. When that time comes, I know I won't be working at the same place where I got my training and subsequent first two yrs of experience. Once you've submitted your documents, how long are you given to write the exam?

When did they stop the Practice CD? When I took the exam (January 2003) they sent it with the packet when I registered. As soon as I received the packet, I took the practice test. That helped me determine my weaknesses. I then borrowed a book of AORN Standards, and concentrated studying only the areas I needed to improve. Overall, I spent only 2 days preparing for this exam. Maybe I'm the exception here, but; although it was a challenging exam, I felt alot of the questions were pretty much common sense for the experienced OR nurse. I had only 2 years experience when I took this. Don't rehash info you already know, and concentrate on your weaknesses, and you'll do fine.

Good Luck!
