Is it worth it?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

As of right now I have 80 credit hours, mostly pertaining to Gen ed requirements and prerequisites to a nursing program. I was accepted into a BSN program at University of Hawaii Manoa, but with the program being THREE years (6 semesters) long, and my husband being military...I had to decline the offer due to a PCS (permanent change of station). I was upset about the circumstances, at first, but there was nothing I could do about it other than start applying to nursing schools in the area we would be moving to. Kind of a "when one door closes, another door opens" type of feeling.

Now we are in San Antonio, Texas (where there are so many great opportunities to become an RN!!) and I am trying to decide whether to go the ADN route (4 semester) then get my BSN online/in class, OR do I try to get into a BSN program at UIW/UTHSC/Baptist (4-5 semester program).

My future goals are to become a NP in L & D. I am very passionate about this goal and am willing to take any route to get there. I am just curious as to what current nurses/nursing students might have to say on the matter. Is it worth it to take just any route?
