OCCC Spring 2015

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Hello,

Is anyone applying for the nursing program at OCCC in the spring? I turned my application in this past Monday, 8/11. I talked to the nursing counselor, so I might be able to answer some of your questions. She only sees 5 or 6 people a day. It's going to get worse as the deadline for the spring gets closer, which is some time around labor day. Couple of key facts that I can share:

  • Point cut off last semester (Fall 2014) for alternates was 16. She said if you have 17 or 18 you have a good competitive chance at getting in.
  • This is the last time that Pharmacology, Medical Terminology, and Nursing Overview will be used for preference points.
  • She told me that I could earn a CNA by attending a 2 week course. I don't have the information in front of me but I can look for it if anyone needs it.

Hope that helps! :)

Hello!! I'll be turning in my application tomorrow, I have 17 points, may I ask how many points you had?

Hey! I had 18 points when I turned my application in. I never got an email telling me they received my application though. Not sure if you're supposed, I just remember hearing other people from past semesters say they received an email. Good luck today! :)

Oh yeah, you have a for sure chance of getting in. I'm just hoping the cutoff is 16 again. And I'll ask them today when we are supposed to get an email for ya!

She made it seem like 16 is the usual cut off but you never know. Let me know what they say about the email notification. Thanks for asking!

Hey so I turned in my application, and they said you should get one the next day but since its the beginning of the semester that it could be a few days, but since you turned yours in on the 11th I would go up to the school to follow up

I called the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at around 7:30. She told me that since I turned it in to them by hand I wouldn't get an email notification. She said whoever receives the application initials it and puts it in the person's bin. Not sure how many people go through the applications. She also said that I should receive an email 3 weeks after the deadline stating if I was accepted or not. That's weird we got two different answers.. Let me know if you get an email letting you know that your application was received.

That is strange, but yeah I'll let you know! And so that means we'll know either late September, early October, it doesn't seem that bad lol.

Thanks! That doesn't seem bad at all.

I just got an email this morning from admissions saying they received my application. I bet you'll get your email tomorrow or next week. It said it would take 3 to 5 weeks for them to review the application.

Yeah I got the email as well, lol this is going to be a long few weeks

I turned in my application this morning with 16 pts and a 3.7 GPA. The more I read through past threads the less hopeful I am :(. This is going to be a long few weeks!
