Anyone going to Edison Community College?

U.S.A. Ohio

Anyone going to or starting Nursing or Pre-Nursing at Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio? I'm starting pre-reqs there in the fall & thought it would be fun to have an email buddy or even a study partner to go through it with. Or if anyone is already quite a ways through it, to get an idea how it's been for you. I heard it's tough to get in their actual nursing program once the pre-reqs are done.

I took some pre reqs at edison. I am from Piqua also. I transferred to Kettering last fall because I started their nursing program. I would be happy :) to email back and forth with you.

HI !

Thanks for replying! How were the pre-reqs at Edison? Did they treat you nice there & when you transferred your credits - how did that go? Did you transfer to Kettering because you couldn't get into Edison's Nursing Program? I understand they take less than half! That is my fear. How fast could you get into Kettering's program? How much longer will that take you? I'm new on this board so not sure how to look up your email address but will try & do that & we can email each other. How are your clinicals going?

I took the first English and Psy online, they were good. Took the Chemistry, Algebra, Anatomy 1 and 2. I liked the classes and teachers at Edison. I tried once to get in, applied in Jan. found out around April that I did not get in. I had already applied at Kettering the November before. I sent transcripts down when I finished classes. Got a letter from Kettering that I was accepted to their Fall 2004 class. I went to Kettering because they took students twice a year. Everthing transferred except the Algebra. Kettering is only 1 semester longer. I figured that was better than waiting a whole year to apply at Edison again and then you still don't know if you will get in. Kettering is alot more expensive but from what I have heard from some Edison nurses it's probaly worth it. The first clinical was alot of review because I was already a STNA. The second one which was our first Med-Surg was hard we lost 13 people. In the fall I will be doing the OB and Psy. I am looking forward to that. From what I hear the extra semester that we do is to gain experience on the floor. It took 8 months to get in at Kettering.
