what are some things a nursing student can do to enhance chances of L&D career?

Hi there! I am an aspiring L&D nurse who is going to be starting nursing school in about a month.

What are some things I can do to enhance my chances of landing a L&D job after graduation?

Here is what I have so far:

- Join AWHONN

- Postpartum Doula Certification - (I don't think I can be a labor doula with the on call schedule/school)

- volunteer on a crisis line type thing - helps with the whole "be ready for anything" mentality

- volunteer taking care of babies - helps with feeling comfortable about newborn care

- become a perinatal grief support counselor and volunteer in that role - helps gain experience on how to help families get through fetal demises

- I am a PCT so I'm trying to get a job in a hospital, preferrably on an OB/related floor - this has been difficult but i'm trying. I dont think that I can get one on an OB floor but I am trying to get into the hospital anyway possible.

other things that I can think of are : becoming a lactation counselor and or/childbirth educator.

Anything else you guys can think of? I want to do everything in my power to make my resume stand out in a good way! It is an ADN program so unfortunately I don't get a preceptorship

Question also: Can students take the online fetal monitoring course?

While I don't think I can do ALL of those things, I am going to try and do as many as possible, while trying to do my best at school!
