In your experience, does being a member of AWHONN or any other professional org help one to network or to get a job in the field of L&D, Mother/baby, ect..? I think that AWHONN is a really cool organization but what is the benefit of joining?

If a nurse Mgr could chime in here also, that would be fantastic.

Thanks

I can't speak to its marketability. I definitely think it looks good to employers when you're a member of professional organizations.

From a personal standpoint, I really like the journal subscription you get as a member.

And hey, anyone going to the conference next month??

I am in two organizations. One, Texas Nurses Asso (chapter of ANA) helps with networking, keeping informed on TX legislation related to nursing and many other issues. The other relates to my speciality and I get all sorts of good resources from them. I have met lots of neat people in TNA and one is now my boss. If nothing else, you get professional growth.
