I will do my OB rotaion in JAnuary. I can not afford to get my book yet, and was wondering if you would mind listing some of the common ones. I know that pictocin and oxytocin are two of them.

Just list the common drugs you use every day. Don't give me any info on them, I want to look it up myself.

THANKS!

That was cute! We use caffeine drips on patients with spinal headaches before the blood patch or on those patients who elect not to have a blood patch done to alleviate the pain. If lying down, increasing fluids and fluids with caffeine doesn't help, the caffeine drip sometimes does. I am a fan of the blood patch, myself when it comes to alleviating that horrible headache..

I just finished my OB rotation last semester. My clinical instructor gave me the following list of drugs to know before beginning our L&D shift:

Pitocin, Stadol, Demerol, Magnesium Sulfate and the antidote Calcium Gluconate , Terbutaline, and Fentanyl

For Post Partum we had to know these drugs:

Methergine, Simethicone/Mylicon, RhoGam, Rubella, Vicodin, Duramorph, and Fentanyl
