Hello all...

current LPN student here and I am doing a project onthe cost of raising a child. I've put it off to the last minute and am having trouble finding cost of delivery. Does anyone have any info or know where I can find certain hospital costs for:

pregnancy test(lab fee)

prenatal care - med fees

childbirthing classes

med fees for delivery and 6 month checkup

hospital.childbirthing center total costs

anesthesia fees

caesarean delivery

circumcision

RARELY are NURSES involved in tracking or even KNOWING such costs. It is enough to assume care of people w/o adding such responsibilities to our repertoire. May I suggest you contact the billing dept of a hospital/birthing center to find the information? They can either tell you what you need to know, or at least point you in the right direction. Perhaps you could contact hospital billing or billing sites on the net....If there is someone in your family comfortable with sharing, you could also ask them to request a copy of their in pt bill, which usually lists specific costs.....
