Nursing Student Re-admittance to PVAMU Nursing

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

I was enrolled in my 4th semester at PVAMU College of Nursing in Houston in Summer 2010. I was pregnant and not doing so well physically and academically so i decided to drop before I had my second failure and be kicked out for good. I was already enrolled and paid for Fall 2010 class (expected graduation date was to be May 2011--so close!!) when the College of Nursing said since i was dropping all registered courses i would be withdrawn from the university and have to reapply to get back in a year. The main campus kept telling me that was not true since all registered courses were not being dropped. This policy is no where in the Nursing or student handbook, mind you. Low and behold i'm pulled in and told that my teacher was trying to drop me and couldn't so i would have to get out of my fall class myself or be written up. Reluctantly i did that and submitted my re-admittance application just to be told that my application is being denied. I have been a part time student at the PVAMU CON since 2008. Though my grades are not stellar, i have made it this far. I'm trying to get in touch with the counselor that has been the go to person for this whole readmission process but so far no luck. I am at a lost for what to do next. I'm trying to see what basis they denied my application and if there is anything i can do to appeal and have the committee reconsider (volunteer work, extra courses, etc). I'm also checking into local ADN programs but that is not something i really want to do. Does anyone know if they left PV if any other Houston Nursing school let you transfer those classes over or if they make you start all over? Anyone else have to reapply to PV and have any insight on my situation???

how did it work out?
