Flash cards and nclex

Nursing Students Student Assist

Wondering if anyone can suggest the best NCLEX book and drug flash cards to purchase- current first semester nursing student - thanks

As far as studying for nclex? Focus on the subject at hand.

I recommend Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX Review 6th edition.

It has everything so so so neatly and nicely outlined. It has adult health, pharmacology, obstetrics, fluid & electrolytes, acid/base, and much much more.

You can then sign up online (for free @ elsevier/evolve) and it has way over one thousand questions. You can narrow your questions down too! Got a cardiac test coming up? You can go to adult health drop down menu and select cardiac questions. You can then go to pharmacology drop down menu and select cardiac questions.

It is a gem. I love it. I wish I had it back in foundations. Yes! It also has foundation topics to test over.

The book itself is just very user friendly. It gives you what you need to know.

I usually always advocate against supplement books ... but this is one is good.

However, remember this is supplement. It will summarize heart failure. It will summarize diabetes. Not give you the in depth knowledge your textbooks and notes from class are meant to do.

I am the type of person that always pays attention to detail but forgets the big picture from time to time ... this definitely helps.

Don't buy drug flash cards without first checking out what I've posted for free here on AN.

If you Google, "pharmacology flash cards," it's presently the third result (you're welcome, AN :-)

Honestly, though, you'll do better with flashcards of your own creation than any prepared by anybody else because their preparation helps the material to sink into your long-term memory.
