EGD/Colonoscopy Nursing Diagnoses?

Hey everybody...

For my next clinical I am responsible for an EGD/Colonoscopy care plan and I'm struggling with developing and prioritizing my diagnoses. I realize nursing diagnoses *shouldn't* be assigned until an actual assessment is conducted, but I need a list of things to expect with a routine Egd or colonoscopy.

My instructor has implied that Risk for Aspiration and Ineffective breathing pattern will be high priority because of anesthesia, so please tell me what you think about this prioritized list:

1. Ineffective breathing pattern r/t chemically induced muscular relaxation

2. Risk for Aspiration r/t depressed cough and gag reflex

3. Risk for fluid volume deficit r/t preoperative restriction of oral intake

4. Risk for imbalanced nutrition: less than body requirements r/t inadequate intake

5. Anxiety r/t situational crisis

6. Risk for imbalanced body temperature r/t effects of anesthetic agents and exposure to cool environment

7. Deficient knowledge regarding postoperative reqirements r/t lack of information

Please tell me if I'm missing something, if anything seems out of place, or if you have better ideas... I always appreciate feedback on this board!! :redbeathe
