Did you see Hopkins 24/7? What did you think of it?

Nurses Safety

It was very well done, even excellent. Unfortunately it gave very little air time to nurses. These programs usually focus on MDs. It really blasted HMO's, it did a good job of stating what is wrong with the health care reimbursement system but not a very good job of offering solutions. Part two is tomorrow night, they will repeat their website address and I am going to go there to talk about the things I just brought up. One more thing, Ted Koppel went into the HMO thing on Nightline and some solutions to the growing healthcare disaster were offered on that show. Well, this is what I think, what do you think?

I thought the show was very good. I would have liked to have seen more nursing, but I did like the honesty about managed care, especially about the 1-2% of people who will pay the ultimate price, death, in order for managed care to make a profit. It will be interesting to see how successful the show is!

Hi NURSEDUDE, you must have been reading my mind. That show was so upsetting last night, I found the sight of a fourteen year old girl slowly dying of a curable cancer while her HMO hemmed and hawed over whether or not it would pay for her treatment very disturbing. Today I listened to the news to hear some sort of reaction to the situation, dead silence except for some people worried about Britteny getting kicked out of the Big Brother House, this country can be really sickening.
