this course presents content related to the role of a clinical educator including scenarios, resources, and examples for the nurse who is responsible for the clinical supervision and evaluation of nursing students or staff in a health care facility. it discusses role development, managing the clinical day, clinical instruction, and evaluation.

objectives

at the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  1. identify policies and procedures and resources needed to fulfill the clinical teaching role.
  2. recognize the roles of clinical educator.
  3. describe strategies to guide, support, facilitate, and encourage student learning.
  4. identify the multiple components necessary to organize and implement the activities related to a clinical day.
  5. list guidelines for documenting student progress on clinical evaluation tools.
  6. use effective evaluation principles when giving students feedback about clinical performance.
  7. describe the interplay of student, environment, teaching, and evaluation in clinical education.
  8. develop an online network for sharing teaching and learning knowledge and experiences.
