Hello colleagues,
I am a nurse, NP and currently DON in a large mental health and addiction facility in the middle east. I am mid-way through an accredited online MS in health care mgmt. Now evaluating the US nursing job market and current state of affairs for a likely return to the States next summer/fall (after 14 years out of the country). Through recent networking I am learning that the pendulum has shifted and alternative grad degrees for nurses seem less desirable. I found an MSN completion for NPs via Phoenix online.
Questions:
1. What is the current climate concerning grad degrees for nurses and future projections. Nurses like myself, 30+ years, diploma, NP cert. BS (other) and MS pending non-nursing but health related.
2. Better to switch to an MSN? Being overseas must do online and this MSN completion fits the bill.
3. MSN w/o BSN..how does that work? Will the MSN be accepted as an advanced nursing degree and offer greater job flexibility and security.
4. Many jobs demand a BSN, MSN (or MS) preferred, will the MSN work w/o the BSN?
Timely responses will be greatly appreciated. I just started a new course this week and if switching need to do ASAP for refund reasons.
Thanks
