Negative drug test x's 2 Now what?

Nurses Career Support

Published

My story is crazy. Here goes.

I am a home care nurse for the last 2 years. Been an LPN for 10 years total.

About 3 weeks ago I got into a brief verbal altercation with the oncoming nurse and I called her a name.

The office was informed by both her and I. They kept me working for 2 weeks after. Then they called and told me not to go to work and go in for a drug test. I did the drug text first thing in the morning. As soon as I got out of the lab I went for a job interview someplace else. Monday morning I took a pre-employment drug text for the other job. Both

test came back negative.

Then the compliance office of the job where I did home care called and asked me all sorts of questions about the incident at hand. This is what they told me was told to them by the nurse and the mother of the pt I was taking care of.

I went to the bathroom 30 - 40 times a shift and each time I came out I was blowing my nose and my behavior and attitude were different.

The mother or the nurse found a change purse with white powder in the bathroom.(there was a change purse in the toilet one shift when I got there, I figured one of her kids put it in there, I just took it out of the toilet and left it on the sink).

I did not change the pt's diaper because there was only one diaper in the garbage (mind you I took the garbage out and thank goodness I wrote that in my note)

And speaking of note: I did not fill out my documentation according to the day nurse.

I also did not give all the medications according to mom.

Everything listed is a lie, except I do use the bathroom a lot due to overactive bladder which I do have prescription for. The compliance guy on the phone kept telling me I was not providing good care to the pt because I was in the bathroom so much. I just kept telling him I was human what do you want.

Anyways. my question is. With 2 negative drug test, would this situation get reported to the board of nursing?

I do not do drugs point blank period and the accusations are all lies so what do you suppose happens?

How does an employer or even the BON differentiate who is telling the truth?

This is just all crazy to me....
