Californian 2009 RN grad- job options

Nurses Career Support

Published

So I have decided to look for nursing support work. I have called almost every sub acute care, SNF and dialysis center with not even one interview. I thought I was done with the CNA license but I'm glad it's still there. I actually have a interview tomorrow for a medical assistant Per Diem job more than 50 miles away from me. It's my first interview anywhere for something close to acute care.

Also, I'm writing a nursing support cover letter and was hoping I could get some feedback on it:

To whom it may concern,

I am a registered nurse (RN) graduate with experience working as a nurse technician providing care for multiple patients and as a CNA in acute care hospitals. Due to the economic climate I have been unable to find work. My goal is to remain in the acute care setting by seeking a position in nursing support. Valuable skills that I can offer you as an employee are:

- The ability to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors

- Supporting patients and their families coping with illness

- Compassionate and enthusiastic to learn and grow as a supportive care provider

- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; superior accuracy in patient charting.

I am well organized, detail oriented and able to prioritize effectively.

I look forward to discussing how my professional experience and valuable skills would be beneficial to your facility. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

I would also love to know of any other job options there are for RN grads who can't find work. Will some places let us work as a LVN? I'm also thinking of getting my phlebotomy license.

Thanks
