Hello Nurse Beth,

I have been inactive for 4 years (due to car accident) but in this time I've kept up my CEU's with online classes, and renewed my license each 2 years. My question is my license no good? I got my license in 2007 and worked till 2013 till the accident. I am put back together now I'm not able to do all types of nursing but there has to be a place for me. I know I I have to do a refresher course and I'm looking for one. Any help or advice would be so helpful, I feel so alone and nursing is my first love.

Dear Inactive:

So glad you are recovered and ready to go back to work.

Your license is good as long as it says "Active" with a valid expiration date on it. Contact your state licensing board if you have any questions. In some states you can verify your status online.

I would google "Nurse Refresher Course" to find one in your area, take it, and add it to your resume.

In the meantime, activate your network and let your old coworkers know you

are looking for a job

Best wishes,

Nurse Beth
