Very anxious and don't want to mess up any further

Nurses Recovery

Published

I have recently signed up with TnPap after being referred due to a failed pre-employment drug screen. The failed test was a result of an isolated incident, ingesting party refreshments that I believed someone was joking contained about containing weed. I am not a regular user of illegal/legal substances. I am scheduled for a 2 hr interview with an evaluator on Mon. I am nervous because I don't want to say or do anything that would lead to recommendations for treatment programs or extended monitoring. I saw a psychiatrist 6+ yrs ago for emotional issues that I have since found very constructive, non therapy non-medicine related methods of overcoming and managing. I can't even remember what was said during the few sessions I attended.

Question: Should I be this worried? Worried about the evaluator procuring past mental health records that I am unsure of any official diagnosis?

I've never been referred for substance abuse treatment, ever. This is all very unnerving and upsetting.

Any insight would be helpful.

Dear lost, well your story is very vague about I suppose having a positive preemployment urine screen for THC that you didn't voluntarily ingest? If this is correct and you don't have addiction issues then I would not worry. However, I would not disclose any information about past treatment for psychiatry issues unless you have to. Also, I would consult an attorney that specializes in these BON issues Before the evaluation. You don't want to be mislabeled or misdiagnosed. Good luck stay strong.

I would not mention prior treatment for anything and secondly I would drop all "friends" who mess with any kind of drugs if you want to work as a nurse. Who even has a conversation about anything besides chocolate being in food?
