ohio bon consent agreement trouble

I'm trying to get my license back in ohio. I have a consent agreement but I'm finding it really hard to do on my own. I need a psychiatrist eval, and a chemical dependency eval. I'm having a very hard time finding a Dr willing to do these. The Dr. must be pre-approved approved by the board but the board doesn't list previous physicians used.

Does anyone have any experience with this. I'm getting discouraged.

Thank you

If the doctor must be pre-approved then I would call the BON and ask who you can see. For me. . It said must be board approved.. which I'm pretty sure just means legitimately licensed to perform the evaluation. I chose who I wanted to go to and there was no problem. I'm also choosing which treatment facility I'm going to do my counseling through. As long add they are accredited..I don't see a problem with it.

However, That being said..I know a lot of the boards are very picky about who they wasn't you to see, from what I've read on here... done get kick backs from sending people to certain doctors.

I guess bottom line is. .if in doubt CALL to verify before you do anything.

Thank you. I did ask the bon who I could see and they wouldn't tell me. I was told to find a psychiatrist, have the dr email the board with the their credentials, and wait for the bon to approve them. Same with the chemical dependency eval.

The trouble is finding someone willing to take the time to read my consent agreement, email the board, and wait before I can even make an appointment. If anyone has had these kinds of appointments in ohio, I'd love to know where.

The board said, be persistent.

I had to do this for Florida's IPN. I did a Google search for board-certified addiction specialists in my area and got several names. I called their offices and explained my needs--they were all very helpful. I wound up seeing a doctor who was board-certified and taught at a nearby university. You may have to travel a bit to get to someone with the appropriate credentials (I had to drive 1 1/2 hours and pay $280), but all the doctor has to do is fax a CV or list of credentials/certifications to the Board to be approved. You probably just have to find a board-certified addiction specialist--that should be enough to meet a BON's requirements.

If you have health insurance call them and tell them what you need- They may be able to steer yout to the right docs. Also look up National Council on Drug and Alcohol Addiction - they should list practitioners in your state. You need to talk to a psychiatrist who specializes in addictionology there by kill two birds with one stone.
