Interview today, any psych nurses out there?

Hi all. I have my first interview as a nurse in TPAPN today. It is for an inpatient psych/chemical dependency facility. Honestly I wanted to be a psych nurse when I first decided to enter nursing due to my own alcoholism. I was sober 8 years and relapsed recently. I haven't ever worked in psych but got a ton of psych patients at my previous job (county hospital :))

Is anyone working in this area in a monitoring program? I think it would be good for me possibly but I do not know if they require a certain amount of time in recovery. I almost have 90 days.

I have brushed up on psych nursing interview questions and my knowledge but am so nervous. This is the type of situation I would drink over in the past (big shocker!)

I really don't know how I am going to bring up the TPAPN thing, but have a few ideas in mind.

I have read all these forum posts but I just wanted to post to "vent" and ask for prayers. God's will be done.

Hi Ash,

first of all good luck on your interview. You've done everything to prepare and now be confident in yourself and God.

I had had a couple questions for you if you don't mind. If you want to answer on PM that's fine also.

I was going through your post and saw that you went to ttuhsc. I am currently about to start there in January also and am kinda freaking out. Did something happen between the time you took your nclex and you being put on tpapn? Or did you know before you started school that they would put you in tpapn?

i had some misdemeanors a few years ago but they made me do a declaratory order before starting and I've gotten my letter that said I will eligible to sit for nclex once I graduate and that no more action against me is necessary. But does this also mean that I won't have any stipulations or do anything else as long as no more offenses occur?
