Agree with is66. The thing that makes me crazy about ETOH is they sell it legally by the glass all over the place..they know you drove a vehicle to get to the by the glass place and then arrest you for going home. Many years ago I was with a group who was drinking, but certainly not to excess..2 glasses of wine with dinner tops..I had nothing to drink myself ..I was a passenger in the car on the way home..when the driver was pulled over due to a license plate light out,... she was asked if she had been drinking by the officer..she said yes, 2 glasses of wine with dinner and refused to take the breathalyzer. She was arrested for DUI, and everyone to the car was arrested for PI..including me. Yes, I was found not guilty..but the arrest stands to today. It is wrong to sell etoh by the glass so the county can collect the outrageous taxes on it to balance their budgets, then arrest those who legally and responsibly drink it. If they really mean the billboard statement of "Drink, Drive, Go to jail..then why the hell are they selling etoh by the glass in a place everyone drives to??? Close down all the bars and restaurants that sell etoh by the glass if you mean it..and see what happens to the local economy..

Two glasses of wine is too much - especially for a women - to be driving . I don't think the local economy will be ruined if and when people starting limiting alcohol intake before driving. Sorry you got included in the roundup for your friend's not too smart behavior.

I've never seen in the literature that 1 out of 3 people have an addition to drugs or alcohol. And read these stats repeatedly. This is an exaggeration.

    subee,

i stand corrected about one 1 in 3 people have addictions to alcohol or drugs.

however, 1 in 3 people in the us ( if not more) are affected by either being an addict or having an addict in the family.

may 14, 2004 -- more than two-thirds of american families have been touched by addiction -- either with alcohol or drugs, a new national survey shows.

all's i'm trying to say that addiction is a disease and it is up to the professionals, including nurses to educate the public so their views will change.
