CGFNS classification/assessment of qualifications - ????

World Registration

Can anyone help. I am a UK trained nurse. I achieved my license/registration via the diploma route. I then achieved my Bachelors' degree post-grad whilst working full time. I have always viewed this as a massive achievement. However....I've been aiming to emmigrate to the States for literally almost a decade. Working towards being elidgible for the H1b visa. Passed the NCLEX-RN. Got USA speciality certification. CGFNS issued my CES report and they only provided a blow-by-blow account of my diploma, with a breakdown of all the hours etc, and then stated that I was comparable to a registered nurse in the States who held a diploma. They documented that I had achieved a BSN but did not provide the detailed breakdown of hours and its' USA equivalence. Once I passed my certification exam I met all the criteria, or so I thought. I started to send my resume out and got 2 positive responses. I got offered a job a couple of weeks ago! I was absolutley delighted I can't even begin to tell you how much hard work plus blood, sweat & tears have gone into this. But today they withdrew their offer of employment due to the fact that my CES report from CGFNS only states that my qualifications are the equivalent of a diploma trained nurse. Even though the report clearly states that I have a BSN, because it doesn't declare that my education is the equivalent of a 4 year bachelor's degree in nursing (even though it is), they have changed their minds. But....CGFNS, I believe, will not provide a report saying that, because it wasn't my degree that led to initial licensure, it was my diploma. I feel like my degree counts for nothing. It's like they're saying any nurse who advances from a diploma or an associates degree to a BSN, your advancement counts for nothing whatsoever. Has anyone else out there had a similar experience? What can I do? I need my CES report to reflect the fact that my BSN means I am the equivalent of a Bachelor's educated USA nurse, but it doesn't say that......really really down you guys, I would appreciate any helpful advice you have, I thought my dream had finally come true and now it's been snatched away from me. How can I have a BSN but it counts for nothing? I feel like screaming :(

hello. firstly, I do feel for your blood-and-sweat hard work just to enter an almost impenetrable job market, which is the United States of America. I was able to get into the US under H1B and stayed there for the whole 3 years (but eventually got so frustrated with their immigration system and transferred to a more welcoming country). As far as I can remember, your CES has no great bearing on your H1B application. The immigration will accept a credential evaluation from WES or any accredited agency. WES, I guess, is the most used. If I remember it correctly, I gave the immigration lawyer my CGFNS CES as well as the VisaScreen but they still acquired a transcript evaluation from a different credentialing agency.

So I guess this route is worth a try.

Hi.

Do you know why are they aquiring your credentials from another agency aside from CGFNS?
