Pennsylvania Licensure

  1. 0 Can anyone give me an estimate on (a) how long and (b) what extra steps may be involved in becoming FNP-licensed in Pennsylvania?

I am a new FNP living in Maryland, and could reasonably commute to practice across the Mason Dixon line, that is, in Pennsylvania. The RN license in Maryland is compact state, so it is good lots of places...but not Penn. I will cross-post this inquiry in the Penn. Nursing forum.

    Thank you in advance.

I just received my PA NP license. The state was the easiest it was my school that was the issue. Just waiting on prescriptive authority.

Thanks for your reply. When you say "waiting on prescriptive authority," do you mean waiting for state DEA # for controlled substances?

It's the next step in the process. You apply so you can write prescriptions but need a collaborating MD before you can do so. You also need one for each collaborating MD you have.
