Hi all. I was wondering if any NP's out there can tell me the best way to get updated on info re: drugs/diagnostics/labs etc... since I have been out of practice as an NP (family practitioner) for 5 years and i am about to take a job again. Besides my pharmacopeia, is there a website to guide me to updated material to guide me in practice:::? thanks

Hi: As far as the drugs go, there is a continuing education series "contemporaryforums.com", that is supposed to be a great way to get the latest scoop. It's for MD's/PA's/NP's, etc. About a week long, 500-700 bucks. A class is being held in San Fran this summer. They have other sites too. Check out their website. I considered an internet pharm course for a semester, but believe it or not, the contemporary forums were actually cheaper, and much faster than drawing out a whole semester of the stuff. You'll just get the meat, not the other stuff you've already had.

thanks sooo much!

I also recommend Fitzgerald Health Associates review class...you may need it unless you really work like crazy on your CMEs because you will have to recertify either by taking the boards or fulfilling the cme credit requirements for whichever certifying body you got your credentials from. And don't forget the part where you have to do 2 of the available ways to obtain your recert. I am not a faculty member, did not write a book, publish an article, and according to my reading of the ANCC guidelines, I will need to have not 75 cme-s, but 150 in the five year time frame.
