Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good lecturerers? or good books for pharm. I feel like i learned nothing in my online class. I just started clinicals this semester and I am having a hard time. I have pharmacopeia 2010, which is helpful but how do you know which meds are the best. I feel uneducated if i ask my preceptor, is that crazy?

THanks

I like "Pharmacology for the Primary Care Provider" by Edmunds and Mayhew for a textbook. I also recommend any review by Margaret Fitzgerald (www.fhea.com). I also use epocrates software in my day to day work. Unfortunately, the best drug for a patient is usually determined by what their insurance will pay for! Good luck!

Yup, epocrates, pay whatever you need to to get i smart phone, itouch, palm whatever to run your epocrates get the whole pay for program while you are in school clinicals- will you tell you what meds to use by diagnosis -usually several choices, and dosages, what to question if labs are off, dosage calculators for pediatric dosing, labs to monitor beofre starting certain meds-etc, in other words it is a wealth of knowledge for a student or new NP.
